EDINBURG, TEXAS - The NBA Development League Champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR) announced today that Dr. Rita Villanueva (Family Medicine/ER Medicine) will talk to participants of the first Jr. Vipers Camp on Friday, June 11th, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Dr. Villanueva will speak to camp participants about the benefits of healthy eating, maintaining good work-out habits, stretching, and how to prevent sports-related injuries, which coincides with DHR and the Vipers’ Get Fit Program.

The Vipers are hosting two more five-day camps beginning on June 14 and 21 at the Summit Sports Club in Pharr (1500 West Hall Acres Rd), which is also the Vipers’ practice facility. The cost is $125 per participant, which includes lunch, a t-shirt, a voucher for two tickets to a 2010-11 Vipers home game, a Jr. Vipers basketball, a certificate of completion, and a photograph with the Vipers’ mascot Fang, presented by Kidiatric Therapy Services.

Registration forms are available online at rgvipers.com and at the Vipers Pro-Shop, located at 4500 N. 10th St. in McAllen.

The camp is run by Vipers assistant coach Jai Steadman as well as players Ernest Scott and Stanley Asumnu. The Jr. Vipers Camp has limited enrollment capacity to ensure each camper receives personal attention. All campers are grouped by age and ability. Campers ages 8 through 12 may be selected as honorary ball kids during the 2010-11 Vipers season.
