Edinburg, TX—Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR) is proud to announce their participation in the 33rd Annual National Nursing Assistants Week celebration.
National Nursing Assistants Week recognizes nursing assistants, who are also referred to as nurse aides, direct care workers, caregivers, certified nursing assistants, geriatric aides, unlicensed assistive personnel, orderlies, home health aides, or hospital attendants, all of which provide hands-on care and perform routine tasks under the supervision of nursing and medical staff.
The week kicked off with Career Nurse Assistants’ Day on June 10th, which focused on these specialists in the art of caring.
More than 2.5 million nursing assistants help elderly, frail, or chronologically challenged persons living in nursing homes, their own homes, and other long-term care settings.
Nursing assistants also play a key role in the everyday care given in hospitals. They provide nearly 80-to-90 percent of the direct care received by patients, bringing patience, a caring attitude, and wisdom to their practices.
Doctors Hospital at Renaissance recognized and celebrated the hard work of its nursing assistants during National Nursing Assistants Week with a Breakfast Celebration on Friday, June 11th, 2010 from 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM. Doctors Hospital at Renaissance employs over 550 nursing assistants and clinical support staff.
“We would like to express our appreciation to our dedicated and hard-working staff that touch the lives of patients daily, while providing the utmost in quality and compassionate care,” said Susan Bajus, DHR Chief Nursing Officer.
